About Me - Rob Solly

fortunate to train with amazing new and different people in priveleged environments, I also had to learn to improvise as life on the road wasn't always conjusive to the perfect training conditions. Consequently I learnt to appreciate the constraints of time and space in order to maximise my training. So if you've only got limited time to train I understand that it's precious and we need to get the most of it. I have dedicated much of my life to various athletic endeavours, experimented with food science and the impact of nutrition on performance, practiced yoga, fought MMA, studied pad holding and bio-hacked myself to see how I can be optimised.
 
Having immersed myself in this for over 20 years, I feel it is time to share what I've learnt. I will help optimise you and consider my task to be to get the very best out of you.

My first introduction in the world of health and fitness was an after school job putting away weights at a local gym. That was some 24 years ago and since then I have set about exploring many different types of training, in a variety of circumstances, always trying to learn and master something new.

 

A chance meeting at a lifeguard course with Grandmaster Frank Massar was to have a profound impact on my sporting life. This was in my early teens and I was struggling with the pool test and confronting failure. Frank, who was also taking the qualification, took me to one side, and spoke to me quietly, and moved me to believe and have confidence in my abilities. I immediately went on to pass the test and gain the qualification with ease. I am firmly of the opinion that it was his inspirational attitude that empowered me to turn things around and this is something I'm extremely interested in as a coach. I have been GM Frank Massars Taekwondo student for the past 23 years and presently hold a third dan black belt under his association.

 

Throughout my twenties I was in a band which toured extensively. Health and
